HOW TO TAP USING THE TORMACH PCNC 1100 MILLING MACHINE
Only the newest Tormach CNC milling machines offer rigid tapping, therefore a floating tapping head must be used with most Tormach PCNC milling machines. The tapping head allows for a small amount of compression and tension. Tormach sells a few different floating tapping head solutions, one of which has a clutch.
TORMACH TTS™ ER Collet Tap Holder: ER16 - $189.00
TORMACH TTS™ ER Collet Tap Holder: ER20 - $189.00

Modular Tension/Compression Tapping Head Kit - $459.95 - This is an expensive set but has quick change collets of different sizes and adjustable slip.

iCarbide sells their own TTS-compatible version for a lot less expensive.

Tormach PCNC 1100 Series 3 Z Axis Brake
The Z axis brake on the Tormach PCNC 1100 Series 3 Milling Machine is energized using 60V DC. I measured that with a voltmeter.
I accidentally purchased a Tormach 1100M Z axis motor, which has a 24V brake. A step down converter is required to run this brake from the PCNC 1100 Series board.
