The Mercedes Sprinter Van transmission is a bit weak for such a large vehicle. It works, but it could use a more heavy duty transmission. I'm speaking specifically about the NAG-1 transmission.

One of the issues is keeping the transmission cool, especially in hot weather and when fully loaded, towing, or going up hill. The transmission fluid passes through a radiator, but the cooling air is preheated by the engine radiator. This is good for cold climates, where the transmission fluid needs to be warmed up to temp faster, so the engine heat is used to warm the transmission. However, in warm climates, this means that the transmission temps are usually, 15-20F higher than the engine temps.

Active Cooling Fan

An electric cooling fan can be used in conjunction with the finned deep transmission pan to increase the airflow over the transmission pan fins.

The fan must be very low profile to fit underneath the deep capacity transmission pan.

FAN CONTROLLER

The fan only needs to run when the transmission fluid exceeds a certain temperature. We'll need to install a fan controller to turn the fan on or off at set temperatures.
